Everything you need to know about Maro.

Everything you need to know about Maro.

What is Maro?

Maro is a mental health screening platform built for K-12 schools and districts. We make it simple to run universal screenings, identify students who may need support, and connect families to care — all in one place, fully digital.

What problem does Maro solve?

Most schools want to support student mental health but don't have the staff, tools, or workflows to do it consistently. Maro gives your team a structured, scalable system — so screening doesn't fall through the cracks and students who need help actually get it.

Who is Maro built for?

Maro is built for district administrators, school counselors, and student support teams in K-12 schools. We work with individual schools as well as multi-school districts.

What screeners does Maro use?

Maro uses industry-standard, research-validated tools including the PHQ-9 (depression), GAD-7 (anxiety), and others. These are the same instruments used by pediatricians and mental health professionals nationwide, and are recommended by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force.

Does Maro provide diagnoses?

No. Maro is a screening tool, not a diagnostic platform. The screeners identify students who may benefit from additional support — any clinical decisions are made by qualified professionals outside the school setting.

How do students complete the screeners?

Fully digital, on any school device. Students complete their screener in a private, secure session — typically in less than one class period. No paper, no manual scoring.

What happens after a student is screened?

Maro automatically scores results and flags students whose responses suggest they may need follow-up. Your counseling team reviews the results in the dashboard and can initiate referrals or outreach directly from the platform.

Can we choose which screeners to use?

Yes. Maro offers a library of validated screening tools. Your team selects the instruments that best fit your school's needs and population.

How long does implementation take?

Most schools are up and running within a few weeks. Our team handles platform setup, staff training, and onboarding — your staff doesn't need to figure it out on their own.

How many staff does it take to run Maro?

Very few. Bayshore Elementary ran their first schoolwide screening with one counselor and three teachers in less than one class period. Maro is designed to be lightweight on staff time.

Is Maro FERPA compliant?

Yes. Maro is fully FERPA and COPPA compliant. All student data is encrypted, securely stored, and never shared outside of authorized school personnel and parents.

How does parent consent work?

Maro sends digital consent forms to families automatically and tracks responses in real time. Parents can opt in or out at any time. No paper, no chasing down signatures.

Who has access to student screening data?

Only authorized school personnel and the student's parent or guardian. Maro does not share data with third parties, and no data is ever sold.

How much does Maro cost?

Pricing is based on school and district size. Contact our team for a quote — we'll build a plan that fits your budget, including options for grant-funded implementations.
